Seven years after Tim Bergling's passing, his former manager Ash Pournouri has resurfaced claiming to tell the 'untold truth'. Here is why I believe it is about relevance, not respect.
It has been seven years since we lost Tim Bergling. Seven years where the world has mourned, celebrated his music, and tried to let him rest. We have seen tributes, concerts, and the slow, painful process of healing for his family and fans.
But now, his former manager, Ash Pournouri, has resurfaced.
Ash is claiming he wants to reveal the "untold truth" about Avicii. He says he stayed silent out of respect, but reading his recent statements, it doesn't feel like respect to me.
To be honest? It feels like the money is finally running out.
Ash recently posted a long statement claiming that a "false narrative" has destroyed his life and that he is now taking legal action to "set the record straight." He claims he waited to protect Tim, but the timing feels suspiciously like a desperate bid for relevance now that the spotlight has truly faded.
Ash is trying to rewrite history to make himself the victim of a "distorted picture." He acts as if he was right there, fighting for Tim until the end, but we have to look at the cold, hard facts. The timeline tells a different story.
Here is the reality:
That is 1 year and 4 months later.
When Tim died, Ash didn't stand up and "tell the truth" then. He went private on Instagram. He ignored questions. He disappeared. He was out of the picture. Yet now, years later, he wants to center himself in the story again?
Ash portrays himself as a victim of a global misunderstanding, likely blaming the Avicii: True Stories documentary for making him look bad. But this isn't just about a movie.
In Sweden, the local community still holds him accountable. When he joined the jury for the TV show "Idol" recently, there were boycotts. People haven't forgotten the pressure Tim was under.
As one commenter (ulrika84sthlm) perfectly put it on his recent post:
"I find it shocking and astonishing that you after all these years take this road... You have a role in this tragedy. If you can't handle that - that is on you. Don't reopen this hurtful page in Swedish music history, especially not based on personal vindication."
I personally offered to speak with Ash Pournouri about this directly. I wanted to hear his side, to understand if there was something we missed. He rejected the offer.
Instead, he has chosen to launch a legal battle and a PR campaign. Why?
If this was really about "the truth" and "respect" for Tim, this would have been handled privately years ago. Bringing this up now, threatening to release "unedited recordings" or evidence, feels like he is treating Tim’s memory as a bargaining chip. It feels like he is trying to retcon the narrative because it has become financially convenient to do so.
I want to be clear: people can disagree on how Tim's legacy is handled today or the decisions his family makes. That is a separate conversation. Whether we agree with every posthumous release or tribute is up for debate.
But what Ash is doing is different. This isn't about honoring a legacy; it feels like an attempt to salvage his own reputation at the expense of a peace that was hard-won.
My wish is for Tim's family to have peace. I want Tim to finally be allowed to rest.
Ash Pournouri making this about himself seven years later does not help the family. It does not help the fans. It just reopens the wound.
We need to ask ourselves:
I do stand against this, and I am with Tim and his family. In my opinion, this is completely wrong, and you should reconsider what you are doing.
We remember Tim for the melody, the joy, and the genius he shared with us. We don't need "untold truths" that only serve the teller.

Ash Pournouri was Avicii's manager and the co-founder of At Night Management. He helped guide Tim Bergling's career from early success to global stardom, but their professional relationship ended in December 2016 when Avicii officially parted ways with his management.
Avicii officially fired Ash Pournouri and split from At Night Management in December 2016, approximately 1 year and 4 months before Tim Bergling's passing in April 2018.
Avicii True Stories is a 2017 documentary that follows Tim Bergling's life and career, including the immense pressure of touring and the health issues that led to his retirement from live performances. The documentary provides insight into the challenges Tim faced in the music industry.
Many fans and the Swedish public hold Ash Pournouri accountable for the intense touring schedule that contributed to Tim's health problems. When he recently joined the jury for the Swedish TV show Idol, there were boycotts and public criticism from those who remember the circumstances around Avicii's career.
