A tribute mix built around the sound, emotion, and spirit of The Crowning of Prince Liam — one of the most beautiful and cinematic creative phases in Avicii's journey. 10 years later, this is a celebration of Tim's 2016 direction and his powerful collaborations with Sandro Cavazza and Vargas & Lagola.

Ten years is a long time to sit with a sound. But the music from Avicii's 2016 creative period — the phase connected to The Crowning of Prince Liam — doesn't feel like it has aged. If anything, it has grown. The emotion in these tracks, the melodic ambition, the collaborations with Sandro Cavazza and Vargas & Lagola — they hold up in a way that very little music from that era does.
This mix is my way of marking that anniversary. Not with commentary or analysis, but with the music itself.
Around 2015 and 2016, Avicii was working inside a creative vision he called The Crowning of Prince Liam. It wasn't just an album concept — it was a mood, a direction, a way of approaching music that prioritized emotion over everything else. Tim was pushing himself into more cinematic territory, building tracks that felt like scenes rather than songs.
The collaborations with Sandro Cavazza defined a lot of this period. Their creative relationship produced some of the most emotionally precise music Tim ever made. Tracks like "Without You," "Lord," "Our Love," and "Forever Yours" carry a kind of vulnerability that is rare in electronic music — not performed emotion, but something that feels genuinely lived in.
Vargas & Lagola appear here too, most notably on "Tough Love," which sits in its own space within the mix: warmer, more folk-influenced, but unmistakably part of the same emotional arc.
This mix is built from all of that. Extended versions, deep cuts, and tracks that never got the mainstream attention they deserved — assembled as a journey through one of the most creatively rich chapters in Tim's story.
1. Avicii – Marathon (Extended) The opener sets the pace and the intent. Marathon is patient, expansive, and melodically rich — a perfect entry point into this era. It moves the way the best Avicii productions do: unhurried, building toward something without telegraphing where it's going.
2. Avicii – Do It For Love ft. Sandro Cavazza The Cavazza collaborations begin here. Do It For Love is one of those tracks that earns its title — there's warmth in it that comes from the songwriting, not just the production. The extended version gives the arrangement room to breathe.
3. Avicii – Our Love ft. Sandro Cavazza (Extended) One of the purest expressions of the Prince Liam sound. Our Love is anthemic without being obvious about it — the emotional buildup is gradual, and when it arrives, it lands.
4. Avicii – We Burn (Faster Than Light) ft. Sandro Cavazza The energy shifts here. We Burn has a drive to it, a forward momentum that contrasts with the more reflective tracks around it. It shows the full range of what the Avicii-Cavazza collaboration could produce.
5. Avicii – Lord ft. Sandro Cavazza (Extended) Lord is, for many fans, the centerpiece of this era. The melodic structure is intricate, the emotion is immediate, and Cavazza's vocal performance is one of the best he delivered across all of these sessions. Extended, it becomes something even larger.
6. Avicii – Heaven (Extended) A brief moment of space in the middle of the mix. Heaven is sparse by comparison to what surrounds it, and that contrast matters. It's a reminder that Tim's instincts for dynamics were as strong as his melodic writing.
7. Avicii – Without You ft. Sandro Cavazza (Extended) One of the most well-known tracks from the period, and for good reason. Without You is emotionally direct in a way that few electronic tracks manage without tipping into sentiment. The extended version sustains that feeling for longer than the official release.
8. Avicii – Unbreakable ft. Sandro Cavazza (Extended) Less circulated than some of the others, but no less powerful. Unbreakable has an urgency that builds across its extended runtime — by the end, it feels entirely earned.
9. Avicii – Tough Love ft. Vargas & Lagola (Extended) The only Vargas & Lagola collaboration in the mix, and it lands differently from everything around it. The acoustic influence is stronger, the tempo more settled. It's a reminder that the Prince Liam era wasn't a single sound — it was a range of emotional registers, all pointing in the same direction.
10. Avicii – Forever Yours ft. Sandro Cavazza (Tim's 2016 Ibiza Version) The only right way to close. Forever Yours, in Tim's 2016 Ibiza Version, feels like an ending that knows what it is. The arrangement is stripped back compared to some versions, which makes it more intimate — and more affecting. It's the version that sounds most like Tim playing it for himself, not for a crowd.
Ten years is the kind of anniversary that asks something of you. Not just nostalgia — something more active than that.
I built this mix because the music deserved to be experienced as a coherent whole. These tracks didn't all come out at the same time, and some of them still haven't received the wide attention they should have. Heard together, in extended form, in the sequence I've arranged them — they tell a story about where Avicii was headed as an artist. A direction that was full of emotional honesty, creative risk, and something close to joy.
That's what I wanted to preserve. Not a setlist, not a greatest hits exercise — a portrait of a creative period, assembled with care.
If you love the melodic, emotional, and cinematic side of Tim's work, this mix was made for you.

The Crowning of Prince Liam was a creative concept Avicii was developing around 2015–2016. It represented a particular artistic direction — melodic, emotional, and cinematic — that produced some of his most celebrated collaborations, many of them with vocalist Sandro Cavazza. While the project was never fully realized as a standalone release, the music from that era became some of the most beloved material in his catalog.
The mix includes Marathon (Extended), Do It For Love ft. Sandro Cavazza, Our Love ft. Sandro Cavazza (Extended), We Burn (Faster Than Light) ft. Sandro Cavazza, Lord ft. Sandro Cavazza (Extended), Heaven (Extended), Without You ft. Sandro Cavazza (Extended), Unbreakable ft. Sandro Cavazza (Extended), Tough Love ft. Vargas & Lagola (Extended), and Forever Yours ft. Sandro Cavazza (Tim's 2016 Ibiza Version).
Sandro Cavazza is a Swedish singer-songwriter who became one of Avicii's closest creative collaborators during the 2015–2016 period. Their chemistry was evident across multiple tracks — Cavazza's voice matched the emotional intensity Tim was chasing in his music at the time. Several of their collaborations were posthumously released on the "AVĪCI (01)" and "TIM" projects.
The full mix is available on YouTube on the Livvux channel. It is best experienced with good headphones or speakers to fully appreciate the emotional arc and production detail of each track.
